Subject: uk and canadian citizens, can we live together? |

Hi everyone... :-)
Can anybody help me please? I´m a uk citizen and my fiance is a canadian citizen and at present we are living apart in our own countries. I know that we can go through the immigration process of a fiance visa so i can live in canada and we can get married, then apply for permenant resident status. We are both extremely unhappy being apart, can i go to canada on a temporary resident visa and then make our applications from there?
Any advice would be very much appreciated,
Kind Regards, Jan...

(in reply to: uk and canadian citizens, can we live together?) Being a UK citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Canada..and vice versa.

(in reply to: uk and canadian citizens, can we live together?) Canada has no ´fiance´ class. You can visit here for up to 6 months without a visa. If you want to apply for an inland application you would be able to remain in the country for the duration of the processing time. You could either file as common-law (not sure what the time limit is you have to be living together), conjugal partner, or get married and file as spouse. I would recommend the latter. Also know that there are no appeal rights for inland applications.

Thankyou (in reply to: uk and canadian citizens, can we live together?) Thankyou both very much for your replys. I am aware i can visit canada for a 6 month period without needing a visa. It just seems every legal representative either there or here want rediculous amounts of money just to give out basic information let alone their fee´s to actually deal with your case. I´m fully aware there are so many people who want to move to another country without a genuine reason but doesn´t it just seem unfair you have to pay to be with someone you love. Thanks again, Kind Regards... Jan
