Hi everyone-
I am an American citizen and have been in Canada since May 21st on my passport stamped till Nov 20th. My wife and I are awaiting our marriage certificate, and I have my medicals done on September 2nd then we will be sending in the completed application and all documents. My question is, under spouse, can i send in a copy of the Record of marriage that we received or does it have to be the official marriage certificate? we weret old it could be another 6 weeks to get it, and even paid $80 to have a lawyer write a letter to try and get it expedited but still have heard nothing.
Can someone please tell me what I should do? what is advisible? I want to get the applicaiton in ASAP so that i can also send in for an extension approval before my time is up. We really don´t want to be seperated again. we have tons of pictures, letters from family and friends, wedding pics, joint bank statements, charge accounts etc. can anyone help me out or give me a bit of reassurance?

Send the record of marriage, I did not a marriage certificate when I submitted my in Canada Application.
If they want the marriage certificate they will send you a request for additional information or once you receive your AOR send them the copy of the marriage certificate.

Have you been approved without it?
As soon as I get my medical done i´ll go pay the fees and send in all the receipts and info and a copy of the record. hopefully that will due cause who knows how long it will take to get the certificate.. i don´t have it yet.. the cic checklist just says marriage certificate.
can you email me? or let me know what you did and if you were approved? time line?
