Subject: How can i sponsor my fiance?
  I need to know how i can sponsor my fiance. We´ve been engaged for 3 years but he lives in Iran. There´s been 2 engagements, one here in Canada and one there in Iran. Although we´ve never seen or been together face to face we love eachother very much. All my friends and family know about our relationship. I am presently going to school and working to make some money to be able to sponsor him. I know the fiance sponsorship is not in effect anymore but i´m in a real mess. What do you think i should do and how?

Get married and sponsor him. This is the only way out. There is no minimum income requirement to sponsor your spouse.

do you know if it´s possible to sponsor him as a conjugal partner?

Well you should consult a professional and explain your case in detail.

Following are some details from CIC website:

You may apply as a conjugal partner if:

you have maintained a conjugal relationship with your sponsor for at least one year;

you have been prevented from living together or marrying because of:
A) an immigration barrier;
B) your marital status (e.g., you are married to someone else and living in a country where divorce is not possible); or
C) your sexual orientation (e.g., you are in a same-sex relationship and same-sex marriage is not permitted where you live);

you can provide evidence of an impediment to living together (e.g., evidence of refused long-term stays in each other?s country).

I wish you luck...the fact that he is Iranian and that you have never seen each other face to face could and will likely be a problem. CIC will look at the case very carefully and it could take some time.

This will not be easy but it can be done. Marrying him would be the best thing to do. The conjugal route is not very successful in most cases.
Again, good luck....have a great day!

When you live apart it´s hard to prove that your relationship is conjugal in the eyes of CIC. I think you better of to get married and then sponsor.

from what I am reading in other places, if there is any way that you are able to be married, CIC will deny a conjugal sponsorship. They say the intention is to be married - so get married and then sponsor him. What this means is that you will have two choices, go to Iran, marry and stay with him while you complete your application or marry him, return to Canada and sponsor from here. If there is a wild chance he can get a visitors visa to Canada, that would be another option (you could marry here and apply for an in-Canada sponsorship) but if there is any wind of a pending marriage - forget it. CIC will lock the border tight because they lose too much control over letting your guy into the country.

Either way, you will be forced to expose all your phone bills, emails, pictures, show him on joint bank accounts etc. You have to prove that he is not using you to gain Canadian status. It is not a pretty process. Be sure, your application will get extensive scrutiny because of the long distance nature of your relationship, the fact that you have not spent time together and his country of origin. They could very well decline your application. If he is with you in Canada and they decline you... there is no appeal opportunity. If he is waiting in Iran, you can appeal the decision but it will require lots of time and legal assistance.

A word of personal advice (and lessons learned from a good girlfriend)...if there is any way for him to come to Canada on his own merits (skilled worker, work permit etc) I would take that route. Less heartache, uncertainty about success, and an opportunity for you to get to know your guy face to face without the pressure of immigration hanging over your head. It is the best way to be sure of his intentions and to protect your heart. It is also the best way to be assured that you can be together!

Thank you so much for all your information, help and advice. I greatly appreciate it. It helps a million to know more informartion when it comes to the immigration process. I´ve taken everyone´s advice and comments to consideration very much.

I personally think the best thing to do is to go there. I can stay awhile and then get married and then sponsor him when i return to Canada. It seems like the most easiest way to get less hassled by CIC.

So again, thank you to everyone! You´ve helped a lot.

My fiancé is based in South Africa though we both came from Nigeria and went to the same college, but different university. We´ve been dating and engaged for the past 9years, we communicate regularly I fact every second on the phone, email, and text messages. We loved each other so much. My question is this how I can sponsor him to Canada since he is not in Nigeria but South Africa on a business visa and he just registered his company over them though his planning is to do business all over the world. His intention to stay in South Africa is very limited since I am over here since 2007 now we are in 2009. In addition I just got accepted as a refugee claimant meaning that my application for permanent resident is in process. Please I serious need advice I am 28 years old which means time is not by my side.
