I am wondering if there are any applicants plagued by the annoying home redidency requirement of J1 US visa? I heard that once u become Canada PR, you can get away with 2 yr rquirement and eventually could return to the United States as an immigrant visa holder. Please share, I am just trying to figure out the possible options. Thanks.

(in reply to: J1 home rsidency requirement) You might get asked by a US officer at the embassy how you are going to comply with the 2 yr home requirement. You should be ok obtaining a visitor´s visa but in order for you to go back to the USA for work you might need to wait until you get your citizenship.

J1 home residency requirement (in reply to: J1 home rsidency requirement) I think it should be possible to get back to US to work after a short stay in Canada although I don´t know how this is done. One of my colleagues was also on J1. After obtaining the Canada Greencard, he spent a brief period in Canada. After several unsuccessful attempts at getting a job, he left and got employed in Las Vegas. I don´t know how he did it. Hopefully, someone will be able to show the way.
