Hi all experts: I want to order CAIPS note from caipsnote.com, the requested fees are US$30. Anybody else mentioned here only Canadian $5. I am living in Ontarion currently.
I have visited the websote but couldn´t understand completely.Could anyone pls explain this for me and what is the fastest way to get the note?

As you are living in Canada you can get your CAIPS notes for FREE.
1) Fill out the form http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563B.pdf
2) Write a cover letter saying that you are requesting CAIPS notes under the Privacy Act. Mention your name, date of birth, file number and visa post (Buffalo) where you applied from in this letter.
3) You will have to provide proof of residence in Canada e.g. photocopy of PR card, visa etc.
4) Send the form and other information to:
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator
Narono Building
360 Laurier Avenue West, 10th Floor
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1
Tel: (613) 957-6512
Fax: (613) 957-6517
You can even fax this information. You should get the notes in 1 month.

Hi Anonymous, two more questions for your opinions:
1. The proof of residence in Canada: phone billing, or bank statement?
2. Do they accept the faxed application package? I just want to make sure.

it worked for me twice without any proof of residence in Canada, I just sent application and $5 cheque (just in case, not a big deal anyway)

1) Its better if you send in proof that you are in Canada. Copy of visa will be sufficient.
2) Yes they will accept the application if you fax it to them.
If you read the form carefully it is clearly written that you do not pay any fee if you are applying under the Privacy Act i.e. applying for your own notes.

Better tosend a regular mail. If you would send a fax CAIPS or FOSS may be take two months else it is just three weeks. This is my personal experience.
