| Subject: Bakground Check = Security Check? |

Hi all.
I am new to this. I have seen "Background check" lots of times in the board. Is it the same as security check. Bufflo told me they spent 11 months on my security check before giving me the interview. Now I have passed the interview. My medical was submitted long time ago. Landing Fee was paid as well. Do I have to wait for any other "Check"?

I don?t think so , it seems that your Passport request is on its way.

Hi George,
Can you please share your timeline i.e. when you applied, when you got IA (information that interview is required), when your file was transfered and when you finally appeared for the interview.
Actually I have been waiting for almost 11 months now just to get my file transfered from Buffalo to NY.

usually if the CIC gives you a go ahead for the medicals it means everything is pretty much done and you are good to go... so just give them a couple months after the medicals and you will have you PP request...and then another week - two week and you have your immigration stamped passport...

not true hs....my medicals were done in november and all the documents required were provided by april 05 but still waiting and loosing hope here...

They told my husband that they are almost done with background/security check.

They are almost done with the check. I don´t know what else they need to check, but they said they are halfway through.

Don´t they ask for a police clearance from every country you have lived in since the age of 18, that is one or several security/ background checks. Then they do their own, correct?

That?s correct Greg.
They ask for all the police records where you have lived and then , they do their own background check.
