For Neha:
If your medical was on Dec 25, You can expect upto atleast 6 months of background check. Mine took 8 months.
For Mohit:
You should get your passport request in a months time from the fee request. So April 10
For Seema:

Cheers to all and thanks for all the wishes.

(in reply to: I got it finally - 2) Thanks nishant for your reply. I was also expecting my pp request by april 10th but till date I haven´t heard anything. I have to leave for India on the 25th for a family emergency and I also sent a fax to the canadian immigration office explaining the situation but did not get any reply. I don´t know what to do.
Thank You

hi (in reply to: I got it finally - 2) Mohit,
There is no need to inform the immigration people. You can temporarily stay out of the US for a family emergency. THere is no restriction on that as far as the immigration is concerned.
So just head back for India. Just make sure that you maintain a valid address in the US when u r gone so that u can receive a passport request. Also get some friend to fax it to u when it comes. YOu can then fedex your passport from India to the immigration people.
