Postpone landing and enter on visitor visa

Subject: Postpone landing and enter on visitor visa
  I am visiting Canada for 2 weeks, then leaving again for a month before returning to Canada for good.

I have both the Visitors visa and PR visa in my passport at present. Would I be allowed to enter on the visitors visa instead of landing and activating PR thereby avoiding having to apply for PRTD while I am away?
