Under the new immigration policy,PRs will have to spend 4 out of six years in Canada. I am a PR and completing 2 years in June 2014. Due to some domestic problems I have to go back to my home country in July 2014 and may not be able to come back before 2016. I will then stay in Canada to complete the remaining 2 yrs. Will this absence affect my PR status and the application for citizenship?

(in reply to: New immigration rules) The 4/6 rule (not yet implemented) is for citizenship applications. To maintain your PR status, it is still 730 days of physical presence in the last 5 years.

New immigration rules (in reply to: New immigration rules) I agree with what hobbes has stated, and if you have any futher clarification or doubts about this, you just have to consult a good immigration law firm in Canada.
