Subject: Question for a unique situation?
So, Iam a Canadian citizen and I met my Russian girlfriend while on holiday in Cambodia. Over this past year we have become very close and in love. She came to visit me on a tourist visa for one month and we spent another month together in Sri Lanka. I would like to have her permenantly in Canada to start a life together. But here is the situation.....I have a job in Canada where I am away from home for six months a year and usually travel abroad, stay in hotels or stay with my family during my off time. I am ready to settle down and build a home base if I can have her join me in Canada. My address is that of my parents house. I have the financial means to support her and have our own place. She is a university educated girl but her field as a Nuclear Engineer is not easily transferable to Canada. I am confused on what direction to go on getting her here. I ve read that we need to have spent 12 month continuous together to apply for common law which is impossible with my line of work. Also have read about conjugal but I dont think my situation would apply to that. Any advice or help on what we should do would be appreciated.

Thanks.

What Roy said. You won´t qualify for conjugal and it sounds like your job prevents you from becoming common law - so you´ll need to get married to make this happen.

And do not waste too much time; just take to the nearest legal agency and put a ring on it. Once you get the marriage certificate, go ahead and apply for her transfer to Canada.

Marriage isn't the only way (in reply to: Question for a unique situation?)
Hi there,

You don´t need to focus on sponsoring her alone. There are many programs and opportunities that would allow for her to apply for PR status on her own. All of these programs should be explored in order to have the most options available moving forward.

Gaining status here as a worker or student may open up opportunities in the very near future - while satisfying the need for you both to be together. At the same time, having options strengthens a sponsorship case - as it helps with satisfying an officer reviewing the application that the relationship is genuine.

There are lots of questions that would have to be answered in order to know all of the choices that are available. Her positive travel history to Canada is beneficial, and it sounds like you have choices to make beyond rushing into a formal marriage.

If you´d like, you can email at jay@cayergroup.com and I´ll send out a free assessment form. At least from there, you know your options for getting the information you need.

Best of luck - Jay

GET REAL!!!!

"rushing into a formal marriage" He is in a committed relationship.

Other options. Most of the FSW Occupations have reached their Cap and the total amount of applications accepted are very close to the CAP.

Most PNP programs do not list their CAP.

Look at the new rules for Foreign Workers. It cost an employer a minimum of 2K in advertisements plus processing is not quick.
