Look im new here and new to this, but i really need some advice. Im a male American Citizen planning on marrying my fiance who is a Canadian Citizen in Canada next year. I entered Canada back in ´05 as a visitor and stayed and lived there as a family for 7 years because we had a child together. We were not able to get married back in ´07 because my CA DL expired and i did not have any other identification that town hall would accept. I did not have a passport back then because it was not needed at that time to enter through Canada. In late June 2012 of last year i was detained by Immigration canada for over-stay. It was a long but short 5 month process, but a week before Christmas, I was finally asked to leave Canada and banned for a year from entering Canadian soil. It´s only been a few months since I been ripped away from my Fiance and 7 year old daughter, but it feels like its been a lifetime. My Fiance and I are trying to be strong for our daughter while we are apart. So my dilema here is this. Once we do finalize our marriage in a year in Canada, what´s the first and next step for us to remain together in Canada? Please, if anyone has any information or advice for us, please post. Thank you for time and your help in advance.

Visitors can stay in Canada for a max of 6 months.
You should´ve thought about it 6.5 years ago.

That´s quite sad to hear.
Canada is one of the countries that is a bit strict when it comes to immigrating. Though there´s also a term of Spousal Sponsorship which you may also take as an option. But let´s not forget that you´ve been banned to enter Canada which you´ve mentioned here. So in order to be sure of what actions to take, professional people are the ones you should rely on with.
