Subject: Spousal sponsorship to Canada
  Hi,

I am a permanent resident in Canada, I have been living here for about 3 years, I recently got married back home in Syria, and came back to Canada because of the situation there. I applied for spousal sponsorship for my husband who is Syrian but recently moved to Egypt, again because of the situation in Syria.

I applied on sept 15/2012, received a letter from CIC Mississauga on Nov 15/2012 saying :

"This is to advise you that your file has been transferred to the local Immigration office in Halifax. Immigration officials from that office will be contacting you in the near future."

I called the call center to clear out what that means , they said the processing time in Halifax might take up to 12 months !!!

and all you could do is wait !!

Is that right ? could it really take that long !! and what could have gone wrong for my application to get transferred to my local office ?

what if my husband applies for a visitor visa would he be able to get it ?

I need help Please , any help any answer is highly appreciated
thanks

Well when you do it yourself sometimes this sometimes happens.

It looks like they think your not an eligible sponsor by the information you put down on your application. It is one thing to be granted PR status and to prove your residing in Canada when you submit a sponsorship.

Obviously the follow up letter from Halifax CIC will be coming real soon.

Some how, some way, you screwed up badly.

For Mississauga CPC to send your Spousal Application to your local Office in Halifax is super strange.

Hang on did you complete the wrong forms??????

Did you submit an In-Canada Application to Vegreville CPC and they transferred it for an interview thinking your husband is in the Halifax area?

Visitor Visa will not work for a Syrian they will immediately think he will make a refugee claim.

Get smart, open your purse and retain an experienced authorized representative to assist after getting and confirming references.

100% agree with Roy. It makes no sense that Mississauga has transferred your application to Halifax. You also cannot be living outside of Canada while the application is being processed. You should be expecting a refusal.

I think the chances of obtaining a visitor visa for your husband are essentially zero.

When you re-submit your application, you should think about using a consultant to avoid the mistakes you made the first time.

It may as well be that visa applications from Syria are now being processed in Halifax. Can´t imagine CHC Damascus operating under current circumstances.

Dear Roy,

I am pretty sure that i filled the right application plus when you go on the immigration website they tell you that if you follow the guide you dont need a lawyer or consultant !!

I am confused !

And when i called the call centre they said transfering my papers could be a normal procudure !

CIO is in Sydney Nova Scotia but Halifax.

Dana I make most of my revenue from people who submit Spousal Applications themselves and get refused for one or two reasons.

What is the truth and what Jason Kenney says is two totally different things.

If it was so easy to do it without a Lawyer and a Consultant why does Immigration have an Appeal Division?

You need professional assistance because something seriously is not right. You need someone who can resolve your situation and you need to provide more detailed information and not on this forum.

You never questioned anonymous ***130*27*37 possible comment that the Syrian visa post has been moved to Halifax. All you needed to do was google and you would have found this!

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions/amman.asp

An applicant (spouse) is being called to attend a marriage interview in Halifax???? Really.

Then you ask again what my advice would be and if you read "Get smart, open your purse and retain an experienced authorized representative to assist after getting and confirming references".

All that is needed is a IMM 5476 Use of Representative form signed by you and preferably your partner.

I have been accused of being blunt, snappy, terse, direct but that commercial about maintaining ones vehicle when the garage mechanic says....

"PAY ME NOW OR PAY ME LATER" seems very fitting.

A spousal appeal is far more expensive then a file search as to the reason Halifax CIC has your file.

Was that advice too terse, blunt, snappy, direct or clear?
