Subject: 21 months processing time for citizenship???!!
Moved to this country 4 years ago and here I´m checking my ECAS application status .. 21 months processing time for citizenship ..wow , even in 3rd world countries doesn´t take that long . Why 21 months? Does Canada want people just to line up and line up and wait? Or it is because they don´t want us ? what disappointment Land of dreams or land
of wait !!!

´even in 3rd world countries doesn´t take that long´... hmmm, do you think maybe it´s because there aren´t long lines of people waiting to get in? If you´re already a PR I´m not sure what you´re complaining about - you´re HERE. You can´t say that Canada doesn´t want you, because you already got in.

Do think "just" is writing about an objective of the Immigration Act?

3. (1) The objectives of this Act with respect to immigration are,
(f) to support, by means of consistent standards and PROMPT processing, the attainment of immigration goals established by the Government of Canada in consultation with the provinces;

Well if your in a smaller centre like Whitby or Oshawa just east of Toronto your likely to be processed five times faster than if your file is in Scarborough CIC.

Sure does not say much for a consistent standard.

Not just Citizenship look at the processing times for Spousal Sponsorship´s at various visa posts.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

Israel 7 months then Kenya 31 months
Beijing 7 months then Singapore 23 months

(3) This Act is to be construed and applied in a manner that (d) ensures that decisions taken under this Act are consistent with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including its principles of equality

@ Cangirl Now three or four times the processing period in the same geographical area. What gets me and frustrates others is that there is unemployment in Canada and these applicants PR´s & Citizen´s have PAID FOR A SERVICE!

Cangirl the next time you pay more than thousand dollars plus costs for medicals, police clearances, translation of documents, courier costs etc equaling at least $1,500.00 and you wait two or three years for delivery of your purchase I hope someone says to you stop bitching.

Okay the cost of citizenship fees are less but the same principle applies. Order a meal that costs $200.00 and wait two years for it to be served due to lack of staff to bring you that meal.

JUST hang in there one day two years from now you can take your frustration out at the processing times when you vote for an opposition candidate.

I have actually paid thousands of dollars in fees for PR processing and am still waiting for my husband´s citizenship. I´m just tired of people complaining by saying that other countries are faster - let´s face it, more people want to come here than the third world countries he mentioned. If you want to actively campaign for faster processing, go for it - call your mp, vote, do whatever you can do. But whining that Canada doesn´t want you is ridiculous when you´ve been accepted to live here. The timelines are posted for you to see, it´s not a surprise how long it is going to take. In many other countries you cannot simply get full citizenship the way you can here.

Other countries are fast but tough luck you preferred to come here! Now that you are in, I would say just shut up and keep working. Everything takes time... if you can´t hold your pants, you can try and leave. It is not like somebody chained you to the place.

Cangirl, maybe you will understand this better
Is it really fair for you to wait 21 months for something other than winning the lottery? I dont think, Roy is right, Canada needs more immigrants and sure the processing times shouldbe faster than today´s.
