To All
I call myself an Immigration Counsel and do my utmost not to refer to myself as a Consultant. Prior to regulation of Immigration Consultants many crooks just called themselves Immigration Consultants. These individuals should of had a sign outside saying fraud artist or crook inside.
The name Consultant has a bad taste attached to it and in some cases rightfully so.
Lawyer has Shyster attached to their title but far too many are fooled and tricked by them as well.
On this forum Immigration Consultans take a beating time after time but what about unscrupulous Immigration Lawyers?
ANY COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A LAWYER AND HIS/HER CLIENT IS PRIVILEGED COMMUNICATION - CORRECT?
So when a few Lawyers were collecting $500.00 each from every family member to get on the Amnesty list which did not exist was that okay?? That those same Immigration Lawyers told a couple of hundred Portugese failed refugee claimants to go underground and wait for the amnesty which never came is that, Okay????
So when one particular Lawyer told her client NOT to report for removal and get married to her husband even though his divorce was not finalized, is that okay????
Then when one Lawyer filed an appeal to the Federal Court alledging previous counsel was incompetent because he refused to submit a deemed fraudulent document to establish identity of his client, is that okay. Then the same Lawyer never submitted any evidence to the Federal Court to support her allegations that previous counsel was incompetent, is that okay? When the Federal court Judge ruled the Lawyer was in the wrong and that previous Counsel submitted quality evidence that the PRRA Officer did not properly assess did the Lawyer apologize to previous Counsel, NO!
When the Law Society of Upper Canada used it as an example in their 2009 Immigration Law Seminar as an example of what NOT to do when complaining about previous counsel did I feel vindicated, YES!
I can go on and list example after example of Lawyers who do wrong things but use the Law of privaleged communication to continue practising.
Can I name them, not according to my regulatory body. I can not name them unless I´m willing to move my family onto the street and live in a cardboard box.
When hiring someone to renovate your home get references. When retaining someone to assist you with any Canadian Immigration issue get references,
IF THEIR ADVICE IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.........RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That means the Gov. Of Quebec (MICC) and prospectively with Canada immigration, if they applied the exact or similar rules to CSIC consultants.
If this happened, that show both above a/m want consultants to live in cardboard box.
Lawyers whichever belongs a specific bar, as expected will be regulated too as it shows, too soon.
About what you mentioned as a self assessment is yours solely.
Finally, Gov. Of Canada including Canada Immigration eventually failed to identify the immigration the procedure including timeline. Thousands of applications are in the trash box in immigration and expected timeline for oldies to be processed at 2024!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Expected that immigration business will be grounded by such vague and unfair rules.

how to tell whether the references is bogus as they can give positive references to themselves. maybe you can use another nick and provide names of those lawyers you´ve mentioned

What about all the posters here trying to circumvent the residency requirements.
Or better the ones tha tpost they will marry for money!
Quebec is just enforcing their language requirements.
If I speak French and can prove same I can do business in Quebec. No further requirments. So don´t think Quebec is tighting the rules, LOL.
