Subject: Visiting Canada during family class sponsorhip
  Hi all,

My partner is a Canadian citizen who has a one year work visa here in Ireland, this expires in August and we have decided to apply through a family class sponsorship application for my permanent residency in Canada. We will have been living together for a year (in a relationship for almost 2 years) when her work visa expires here. Our application will most likely be made outside Canada as the waiting time seems to be a lot shorter.
My question is this: Can I visit Canada while my application is being processed? Obviously I would like to keep any time spent apart down to an absolute minimum. So do I run a high risk of being refused entry due to any worry on immigration part about my dissapearing once I get in (in case my application is refused)
I read that there is an Open Work Permit available for people who are waiting for their sponsorship application to be processed, this Open Work Permit is available once the application gets initially approved.
Would this be available to me too? I was not able to find out much more than that but it seems like it would suit me perfectly.

Many thanks!

Jason.
