Hi everyone.

Just a quick question:

My spouse in Alberta Canada is sponsoring me here from Africa. (i am not African, just working here).
One of the requirements is this:

You must provide a Family Composition Certificate (?Kashf El Ahl?) issued by the Civil Register
(?Sigil El Madani?) or a copy of your family booklet where applicable.

1. I have no idea what this is..pls explain guys.

Thank you so much in advance.

Why Africa? Use your country of citizenship it has to be faster.

Because i am working here in Africa...what if id be called for interview or whatever and i am not in my home country?

My spouse submitted the forms already, with my address in Africa. if its possible to change it, how are we going to inform CIC then?

thanks Roy for the prompt reply.

- All what you need is the marriage certificate that proves the marriage relationship that exists between you and your spouse. This is usually issued from the court or el sigil el madani. If it is issued in a foriegn languane (e.g, Arabic), you have to translate it at an accredited translator and NOTARIZE the copies.

- You will mention in the application the country where you are working (Africa) and may need to issue a police certifcate clearance from the African country. You have to put your address in the African country.

You can send the application from your country but you have to put the address of a relative there and they should contact you whenever they receive any letter from the CIC. However, you still need to mention the current address in African country and as you mentioned, you have to fly to your country to do the interview there. I recommend you apply from the African country. However, remember that process will take a long time and if you plan to leave the African country within a short period of time, I recommedn you send the application from home country and put the address of your relative. You can explain why you are applying from your home country by saying -for example- that your residence in the African country is temporary...unstable...transfer a lot between the two countries....intend to leave the African country very soon...hope this helps
