I´ve been in Canada for a year with my wife. I´m leaving now though. So we can apply for sponsorship. Will customs give me a hard time? I´m a US citizen.

Not really clear from your post.

Your Canadian wife will sponsor you? If so, for sure she can sponsor you while you are in the USA.

Customs has nothing to do with immigration.

The fgact that you overstayed if that is what you do has no bearing on the bona fides of your marriage.

Overstaying in Canada (in reply to: Customs)
Customs & Immigration will be on the look out for you if you have overstayed you welcome.....we had them on our case even though my husband is here legally (visiting from UK), and extended the visitation, but still have not heard anything back from them yet. It is also very very difficult to find an employer who is will to sponsor or provide a work permit. We have had 3 employers who were interested but after waiting 4-5 months for the paper work the companies decided that they did not want to wait any longer....so the waiting starts all over again. Calgary is a complete joke and these employers have no accountability to anyone. DO not apply to Calibre Coatings, Sunset Memorials, and Double Dutch Carpentry, Equipro Painting.

Good luck!!
