Ok, I talked to friends of mine who got divorced in Canada and they said that normally it takes between 5 and 7 months to get divorced here in Canada. They also said it depends in which Canadian province you are and in which court you apply for divorce (some institutions are more busy than the others). They also, recommend you to come to Canada then apply for divorce in Canada. This can save you lots of time.

you still need to be physically separated for 1 year. if that year is prior to landing... would CIC consider that a change in status and therefore misrepresentation?
I would submit it is a huge risk

Hi Deepti,
I would like to suggest you, Deepti, for any of your concerns and when you are not sure what to do to contact CIC officer by email. Because, some time, you can get replies to your posts like the one I sent you on 27-12-2007 at 14:58 that could miss some information. Many thanks Sharon for complementary information.
The Government officers in almost of cases reply quickly, even in holidays. I sent an email 3 days ago to Ministry of Labour and got reply yesterday. Wow, I didn´t expect reply on holidays season.
