Subject: caips file and dependent child
I have already posted these questions but I think I made them in the wrong thread. Now I´m posting them again.

1. My husband applied for canadian immigration in 2002 but was denied in 2005 because he did not reach the required 67 points. In 2006, we applied again, but this time I am the principal applicant. We want to verify the progress of my application by requesting for our caips file. Can we request for the two files, my file and that of my husband´s? Will the previous investigations made in my husband´s application expedite processing of my application since the basic information in our family were already taken up by the embassy? Will this reduce my timeline?

2. Another question, when I applied in 2006, my elder daughter was below 21 years but now she´s 22 years old and a graduate of a university degree. Must she enroll in a masteral course to still qualify as a dependent child? Is the status of the dependent child locked in on the date the application was received irrespective of the present status?

I will appreciate very much any help from anyone who is knowledgeable on this matter.

on point one I will let someone else more experienced take care
On point 2 - dependent vhild will be considered dependent only if she continues being dependent that means you support her she has to have no job/income. She must also have continous education from a GOVERNMENT ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY(this is a must). Please make sure that your dependant satifies these 2 points till your processing is complete.

Thank you very much Sarika for your reply. Yes, she is presently enrolled in an ACCREDITED GOVERNMENT UNIVERSITY taking up Master in Business Administration.
However, others I know who are on the same shoes take up their second bachelor´s degree to qualify.Which one is a better move?

Again, many thanks for the concern.

I think - Masters or bachelors should not make a difference it is your personal choice but it is a must that it is a continous education in a govt accredited university

Thanks again Sarika. I hope this time we can make it.I´m completing my Doctor in Business Administration this coming May 2008 to increase my points. I don´t want any of my 2 daughters to be left behind.

If things turn out as planned, I´ll see you in Canada. ´Til then my new friend.
