Subject: Passport Submitted... Missing???
  To all the experts,

I am sponsoring my husband from India. We submitted all the documents including medical in April 2007. We got my Canadian file number within 28 days and after 17 days we got the passport request from India on May 15 2007.

As requested we mailed my husband´s Indian passport to the Canadian Embassy in New Delhi on June 11 2007.

The challenge we are facing now is that we have no idea whether they received the passport because CIC-M asked us to call India for this information. When we called CIC-India they asked us to check the ECAS, email or fax.

Nothing is updated on the ECAS and our emails went unanswered. After that we sent a fax and did not receive any response.

When we called CIC-India said they cant do anything.

We are tired of locating our passport and we are not getting any decent replies or answers.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I am worried about his passport being misused and/or lost.

Please advice.

Anita

there is one idea... (in reply to: Passport Submitted... Missing???)
Hi Anita , we had also submitted our pp on 16/jul/07 , till now havent got any response , but we got a confirmation from our courier company that our pp were safely reached embassy , we know d exact time and person name to whom it was delivered , so u can also always get in touch with ur courier company , if not then also u have one more alternative , if u dont get reasonable response from d courier company then u can go 2 do Canadian Embassy in new-delhi , and ask bout ur pp whether they received it or not , i am sure they must have ur pp , otherwise they will try 2 contact u in case of issuing ur husband a visa .

i hope my advice will ease off ur tension little bit , and do let me know , if u get any response from any side .

Thank you (in reply to: Passport Submitted... Missing???)
We used Canada Post and they need the Indian Postal Service to update them about the delivery and the Indian Postal Service said it would take up to 120 days to reply.

I did contact Canadian High Commission... if possible my husband would have gone down to CIC-India but unfortunately he is in Canada with me. We are planning on asking someone from our family to go down in person and enquire.

What do you advice?

hi again (in reply to: Passport Submitted... Missing???)
hi Anita , wat i think is , if u both r in Canada , and u r planning 2 send someone at d embassy in new-delhi , then should send them a authorization letter first to ur relatives so that they can enquire about ur case on ur behalf , otherwise , they wont be entertained at d embassy .

one personal ?? r u guys Indians...?

Hi Anita,

I am not an expert on this , but sending the indian passport by mail from one country to another is itself illegal. Please check with your courier service as they only can tell tell the status where they delivered it.

Rajiv
