Subject: Question about Appointment in Etobicoke
  Hi all,

I am a US resident, my husband a Canadian citizen and we are in the process of applying for permanent residency for me in Canada. We recently received a letter saying that the processing of my application has been completed (he has already been approved as a sponsor) and that the Canada Immigration Centre in Etobicoke will contact me concerning my permanent resident status. It also says that at the time of my appointment we will be required to present the original identification documents (I assume that this means that we need to present our marriage certificate and passports). I am just wondering what the next step in the process is and what this meeting with the immigration centre in Etobicoke entails. When will it be decided if we need to do an interview, or has it already been decided? How long does it take for a decision on permanent residency to be made at this point?

Any other pertinent information that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Vickie

Dear Vickie

That is a standard letter for any H&C applicant are you sure you completed the correct forms?

There are two InLand Spousal sponsorship applications and one overseas one. The InLand ones are In Status and out of Status.

Why on earth would you do any InLand Spousal sponsorship????

Timeline is at least another year. Sorry to tell you that.

I am positive that I completed the correct forms. I have already met stage one approval, had to send in another set of fingerprints (from my state) and an updated form on where I´d lived since they last received correspondence from me. According to the website my status has been determined, and when I called immigration they told me that I had been approved and that I would be in the Etobicoke office in 6 to 8 weeks. Other people that I have talked to (I didn´t know this yesterday when I posted this question) told me that this is the final stage, and the meeting is for the landing interview.

I am confused as to why you are saying that I completed the incorrect forms. Also why do you say the timeline is at least another year? I´m not trying to be sarcastic, it´s just that I´m receiving conflicting information and would like clarification.

Thanks,

Vickie

permanent resident status interview in etobicoke (in reply to: Question about Appointment in Etobicoke)
i received a letter from immigration saying that my application for permanent residence under live in **** class has been completed. The Canada Immigration in Etobicoke wil contact you concerning your permanet resident status. The right of Permanet residence fee of $490 is required before you can become a permanent resident in canada.to date this fee has not been paid and the confirmation of permanent residence document will not be issued until payment is made.pls be prepared to submit the total fee of $490 to the immigration centre in etobicoke when you are scheduled to obtain your confirmation of permanet residence document.

My question is that do i have to go to etobicoke immigration centre and pay the said amount so that they can scheule me for an interview or do i have to call the etobicoke immigration centre or just wait for the letter through mail from etobicoke.and how long will it take before i receive my schedule for interview.
