Hi
I have read a number of questions on this forum on landing in Canada and coming back to the US with an expired visa.
I am writing below my experience in this regards
Buffalo Station
Applied for PR - Oct 2004
Recd PR - Oct 2006
Landed on Jan 13, 2007
Had an expired H1 visa but valid extension
Flew into Toronto to Land. Did not hand over the I-94. Landed in Canada. gave my friends address for my PR card. the whole process took 15 minutes.
Then went to the departure section of the airport. Showed my expired H1 visa and approved extension and the old I-94. Was sent to the senior officer. He made me fill out a new I-94 form. and stamped my passport and that was it.
The whole process took another 15 minutes
Hiope this is helpful.

By the way, what did they stamp in your passport?
