Subject: PR and WP - Income tax related query |

Hi,
Presently I am in on Canada on WP. I have received my PR. I would be going out of Canada and reenter Canada as PR as till then my status wouldn´t be changed.
Now I have SIN number which is being used to deduct income tax at source(company). When I would reenter Canada I would be given a new SIN number which would be different from my present SIN.
I don´t want my employer to know that my status have been changed as that may effect a couple of things.
What should I do then? should I let them deduct my tax with the old SIN and while filing the return next year I use new SIN? though T4 form which would be issued by the company would be having my old SIN number only,
Please advice,
Vijayraman

(in reply to: PR and WP - Income tax related query) what´s wrong with telling your employer that your SIN has been changed, they do not need to know why..
you can not use 9 SIN anymore once you are PR..
what they HRSDC will do is to covert 9 SIN to another one..nothing changed inside, just a number changed..

(in reply to: PR and WP - Income tax related query) Thanks for your reply DB but I have my own reasons not to tell my employer. Is there any way out? that I tell the exact SIN while only filing the return ...not before that.!!

(in reply to: PR and WP - Income tax related query) that´s impossible, you do notice that once you convert it into none-9 SIN, old 9 SIN doesn´t work anymore..
on your bi-week pay roll deduction, you simply can not use old 9 sin anymore...
well, why not check with your local HRSDC office, see if they have any way out by not informing your employer.

(in reply to: PR and WP - Income tax related query) you can gain your PR and not apply for new SIN but that will only work for short time , sooner or later you need to convert into the none-9, you can also delay landing as much as you can, but all these are temporary things.

(in reply to: PR and WP - Income tax related query) There are several foreigners who sign a contract to work in Canada and in that contract some companies that do the recruiting state they are not allowed to apply for a PR. This would affect their recruitment procedures for other foreigners to come here and work for big banks etc.
What this person must understand is that the recruiter contract from his/her home country is not valid in Canada. That this person should seek alternate employment or speak directly to the Canadian companies HR department and apply for a a job with his temporary Canadian employer.
Business is business and if he/she has proven themselves they will have a permanent employer and say (*)&(^ goodbye to their recruiter.
