Subject: US J1 visa |

Hi! all,
I am working as a J1 in the States and in the verge of applying for Canadian visa within a week or two. The problem is my "extension" of J1 will expire on November 30, and my employment will end by then with little hope of extension. In this scenario, my file will be transferred to Delhi (as I am from Nepal). Is it advisable to apply from the US when I know I am going back within next five-six months? I am sure it will delay the process when my file will be transferred to New Delhi.
I am not sure but I was also thinking about applying to some less expensive Canadian univerersities, just for the sake of a better visa processing timeframe. The downside is financial as neither I have any job offers nor I will be able to work as a student. I am totally oblivious of work prospects for students (both on and off the record), the possibilities of on-campus jobs, etc.
Needless to mention how much I will appreciate your responses
thanks, Basanta

regs (in reply to: US J1 visa) regulation is that you can apply in your country of nationality (of to vis aoffice responsible for that country); or, to the visa office in the country where you were admitted for at least 12 months and CURRENTLY RESIDE THERE. so, if you submit to buffalo and leave to India after submission you should be ok. (just change address)
Buffalo is way faster then delhi.
if, and only if, there will be an interview, you will have to return to the US.
