I don´t understand how the points work. How many points do you require for a visitor visa to Canada from Chile? Also, how do you accumulate these points?

Tammy,

To best of my knowledge you don´t need the points for visitor visa. Points are kind of benckmarks being set by canada government solely for immigration purpose( ex. permanent residence).

Here is the link which will be helpful:

Thank you for your quick response. I am familiar with that site. Unfortunatly it doesn´t doesn´t state what is required from the individual that is applying. The reason that I am asking is because I couldn´t get any answers from the Canadian Embassy. Last year we sent a letter of invitation to my husbands cousin, and one to the embassy. We were taking full resposibility for all her expenses etc. We were only requesting that she visit for a month. She has no criminal record, all of her family is in Chile. She was denied the visitor visa. She faxed me a copy of the denial and it didn´t really give a reason other then they weren´t satisfied that she would return. It didn´t say why they thought this. It seems if they don´t actually own something (like a house or car) then the visa will not be approved. We would like to invite another family member, but if one of the qualifacations is ownership of property I really need to know that in advance or I would just be throwing my money away.
