If you feel threatened by the fact there is more than one university in Ontario, I have the name of a good therapist in the Toronto area who can help you.

UofT = York U with a Medical faculty, nothing more and nothing less.

UofT = Quantity not Quality.

UofT= No campus life, therefore their students have to vent their sexual fustrations in this forum.

Univeristy should be for the elites, If we can have 20 universities in Ontario, then why can´t we have 100 universities here?

^Becasue sooner or later, the tax payer will catch on to the fact we have an over-educated workforce collecting welfare.

I think we should establish more universities in Ontario, 20 is simply not enough. I believe that even eskimos and polar bears have the right to attend university.

Tax payers want their children to be educated. That means greater access to educational opportunities, creating more spaces in existing universities and more choices in university and college programs.

It´s not like HK. People jump off buildings if they can´t get into Hong Kong U. We create more space and build more schools. Like it or not, it´s Canada, and it´s not elitist.

I came from Taiwan and I know many people commit suicide if they can´t get into National Taiwan U. Many Japanese high school students commit suicide too if they can´t get into Tokyo U. People commit suicide if they can´t get into Hsin Hua or Beida. This kinda thing happens all the time in Asia.

It´s like saying if you are not a Harvard student, then you should be dead.

There is a big difference between Canada and most Asian countries in how access to universities is viewed. In Asia, when you can´t get into university, people ask, what is wrong with YOU? Here in Canada, people are more inclined to ask, what is wrong with our Government?

Nono. If you fail to get into university, you ask:

"Is anything wrong with Seneca?"

Parents in Northern Ontario applaud when Lakehead adds a new medical school. GTA residents are delighted to hear about the new UOIT as McMaster adds new applied programs in manufacturing.... Seneca offers new applied degrees...etc.. the list goes on and on. Canada will never have elite universities becasue our Government has a mandate to provide for the people!

The post about over-educated people being on welfare is retarded.

I was on welfare for about a year. Go to any welfare office and watch the people who show up to apply or complain about their cheques being late. The rare person who´s at all employable is definitely the exception.

About the only people "ripping" off the system are stupid young guys (like I was) who don´t realize you earn more money with less hassle doing any minimum wage job.

The people you hear quoted in newspapers and sitting at the back of buses joking about how they rip off the system? Yeah, sure. Hang out with them for an afternoon and tell me you can imagine hiring them for something. Welfare roles are inhabited by the same people we have in our prisons - pathological liars.

The trick is to mold education and social programs so fewer of these people are produced. As for the people on welfare, I´d rather they cost me $2000/month in welfare payments then $10000/month in prison costs (and at least welfare recipients put their money back into the economy).
