Subject: UT faculty versus McGill faculty
There was a McGill idiot who claimed to know everything about stats.

Yes, the Research Infosource rankings by subfield are only for TOTAL publications. UT, being the largest university by far, would, and should rank first.

However, the McGill idiot stated that UT has FIVE times more faculty...what an IDIOTIC statement to make.

The number of fulltime faculty at UT faculty is 2,376
The number of fulltime faculty at McGill is 1,476.
Source: Research Infosource

The difference is exactly 900 faculty members. How does UT have FIVE times more faculty???

Even in terms of RESEARCH INTENSITY, not TOTAL RESEARCH FUNDING, UT faculty get $ 298,300 compared to McGill faculty who get $ 286, 600.

These numbers objectively show the quality of UT faculty.

Here´s some advice for the McGill idiot: Go back to elementary school and learn your math.

Obviously, McGill kids are dumber than previously thought.

Not only are they blind to the stats, they also need remedial math.

Here´s another piece of advice for the idiots attempting to ramble on and on about McGill´ reputation and prestige in spite of what the stats objectively state.

Stop responding to these posts. Some of your posts are so idiotic that you just make McGill look even worse. ie. your claim that UT has FIVE times more fulltime faculty when UT, in FACT, has 900 more than McGill.

I think McGill University would also appreciate it.

Did anyone notice that McGill´s sponsored research income for 2004-2005 dropped 22.2 % ???

That is the biggest drop of any university in Canada, 2004-2005.

Again, reputation and prestige are not constants. They are variable depending on the amount and quality of research.

Oh shut-up UofT fanboy. According to the same source, McMaster beats you for research funding per faculty. So, by your argument McMaster > UofT.

Shut-up UofT fanboy. Research Infosource also indicates that McMaster beats UofT for funding per faculty. Based on your reasoning, McMaster > UofT.

You shut up, idiot.

This whole thread is UT faculty vs. McGill faculty.

Yes, Research Infosource reveals that McMaster faculty beat UT faculty based on research intensity.

That just strenghtens my argument that McGill is even a notch lower.

I never intended to say that U. of T. faculty were tops, just tops over McGill.

Maybe we should now start a new thread...McMaster vs. U. of T.

You start first, idiot.

The McMaster kid seemed to have posted the same message twice about how Mac faculty beats UT faculty, but in different words.

Trying to pass off one argument for two??

Nice try, idiot.

Your information is WRONG!!! In terms of research funding per faculty member, McGill is the 1st in Canada, and the second place, UofT is not even close.

So if McGill gets good funding, what are they pissing it away on? Advertisements in podunk American newspapers? LOL. I used to have a higher opinion of McGill.

To the idiot who said McGill faculty are number one in research funding.

Where did you get this?

Research Infosource?? Can you read?? Are you numerically literate??

McGill faculty rank below McMaster and UT.
