no one recognizes lakehead as a strong university in these fields or any other fields due to the fact that lakehead university is for those that are less than intelligent but more so "mentally challenged" employers of lakehead are usually the colonel sanders and ronald mcdonald..making chicken and flipping burgers are what they are meant for.lakehead shines when it comes to this sort of thing

Says every Canadian business student... "OHHH i won a crappy business competition, that makes me the most likely competent person in the future. Even though to train for a business competition lacks many skills in reality, for alot of schools win lots of business competitions that reflect nothing on their character."

Think about it, like Laurier claims to be the most entrepeneuring university, yet it has few to no famous entrepeneurs coming out of it, or Schulich claims to be the best for marketing because of some competition (L´Oreal marketing comp for specs) it won, yet it produces far more accountants than anything. Competitions are mostly luck

I prefer to use the reputation of the university based on rankings done by international bodies, such as Businessweek or Financial times because they tend to point out the best universities by reputation, and often a reputation is built on execution of past students who will have the same cirriculum that you will have.

reputation is fine to go on if your comparing say.. York and UofT..

On the other hand, Lakehead has 7500 students, and has been a univeristy for 40 years, while UofT holds about 60,000-70,000 students and has been around for well over 100 years. . Its not fair to compare the popularity of the 2 schools, people from southern ontario dont know a thing about lakehead, while UofT is a huge campus thats right in your face. Reputational surveys mean nothing in this case.

And dont try to say that employers care about reputational surveys and shit like that(i know some UofT wieners have tried to argue that in the past). Every second person on the street has a UofT degree, its nothing exotic.. employers are not searching for a UofT graduate, theyre searching for a qualified employee who can do the job.

You people are dense. Reputation surveys are there to show what the general perception is. Employers don´t read these surveys and form beliefes and opinions, the surveys are a representation of the established opinions of employers. If you don´t think that this applies because your poor little Lakehead, you´re wrong. Reputation opens doors.

WE are all highschool students laughing at schlups who failed highschool and are going to lakehead... WE are going to big name schools (U of T Queens/York/UBC/Western/Mac/etc.) YOU are a university student on this forum who goes to the crappy school in question... who´s going to be more successful?

If it´s you, all of our values are wrong. People who do nothing succeed and all our work is in vain to stay out of crappy places like lakehead.

your completely totally utterly wrong! All degrees will open doors to entry level positions, wheather you are a UofT grad, a Lakehead grad, or a Brock grad, you will be competing for the same entry level positions. You guys takl liek the employer is going to send everyone home who doesnt have a degree from UofT or somthing.. sheesh.

Employers find qualified professionals holding a degree, and from there they just hire the worker best suited to the job. Peoples personality and professionalism are 10000x more important for getting a job than the school your degree is from.
