Subject: physics question pls help.
which collision is more dangerous to a driver. one in which the cars stick together after the collision (completel inelastic) or one in which the cars go in different directions after the collision (elastic).
appreciate the help.

elastic collision would be more dangerous to the driver since there would be a smaller contact time between the cars, thus a larger force. F = (mv - mu)/t

if the cars react inelastically none of them would buckle. But If one or more of the cars was to buckle then the car would not stop nearly as abruptly as in an elastic collision.

F=ma

a is the negative acceleration
m is mass
F is force of impact
