It would be unwise to rule out Lakehead based on the above statistic. To do so would be like choosing a car based on the type or grade of gasoline that goes into the car. Let´s say Lakehead is a car. If the Lakehead car can accept a lower grade gasoline and deliver similar mileage and performance as another car running on slightly higher grade fuel, that´s not necessarily a bad thing.

Of course, the analogy is not perfect, and with lower grade fuels, the car may not run properly. But this is not the case with Lakehead. Its students win more than their fair share of academic and non-academic awards at major national competitions. MacLean´s consistently ranked it at or near the top for "value-added" among Canadian universities.

For those searching for great prestige- look elsewhere. But for students seeking a good basic post-secondary education, why not consider Lakehead? I did. More than a decade later, my neighbor across the street is a successful Waterloo graduate. The next door neighbor is a UBC pharmacist. I could do a lot worse. The reality is: things did NOT turn out for me as bad as some posters here will have you believe.
