Subject: Buffalo Response
I sent an email to Buffalo inquiring about the status of my application and I got the following reply:

?We have requested background information from other government offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot respond to requests for the status of your application before this information is received.?

I did the medical last November and it is about to expire. Do you know how long it may take more to receive this background information? I am really frustrated, I was expecting that they would tell me that my file will be finalized in early 2006 just like everybody else, but it turned out differently.

Is it possible that Buffalo may put a rush on this background information to get it faster?

Please advise

CIC has no control over the speed of the reply on the background checks. It is up to the good nature of the respective countries where you have lived.

It is amazing that they replied at all to your email. most people are not that lucky.

CIC are not the right people to be pissed of at.

I got the same message as you. I applied in April of 2002 and did Medicals in August of 2003. I know that I was under background checks. It will take a long time. So far I have no news at all. I wrote a letter to Canadian Security Intelligence Service (The real responsible party), they replied that my case is in process but refuesed to inform me the timeline. You can do nothing but wait. I have waited more than 3.5 years. You are not the one with worst luck.

P.O & Vansky:

Yours are not the only case stuck with BG Check.

My medicals were done as per request of CIC in late Oct 2004, so a year is over. However, I have the same reply from CIC and listing on CAIPS notes of August 2005.

I have no idea when the BG check is going to get over.

P.O you are rightly P.O´fd - I mean CIC should not ask us to proceed to medicals if they are not expecting to finalize the case.

Sharon, I´m rather surprized at your replies. These have taken a 180 degree turn. I mean look about 6 months back and you were at forefront to criticize CIC. Ample of proof right on this forum. Now I see you defend them on all moves, I mean does that make sense to get applicants to go for Medicals again if they are sure they will not finalize?

Well just that I found this interesting - a under the table deal with CIC to turn their spokeperson?

does e-mail "..finalization in early 2006" mean their background check is over?

Waiting,

Yes, e-mail "..finalization in early 2006" means that your background check is over, and you can hope to get your PPR early 2006.

Congratulations!

Pissed Off,
Our medicals expire in Sept. 2005 (AOR Nov. 2003),
and we got the same reply as you did. Really frustrating.
Hold on, no one can do anything to speed up this process, PPR will come ome day and not earlier (unfortunately).

hell
(in reply to: Buffalo Response)
Hell,

You are right. BG checks are not in hands of CIC - so we all are in same boat and will have to wait.

I do not feel like I have taken a turn around. I do not favour how this all happens but at the same time, it is frustrating to hear everyone bashing CIC when they are not the culprit. This background check stuff is totally out of control. Not sure who to blame. Perhaps Mr. Bush.

Well, I did not say that I was pissed of at CIC... I am pissed of from the government that is yet to reply to CIC. I only lived in one country beside Canada, so I don´t know whether that helps speeding up the process.
