Subject: Processing times Buffalo -

The cic website has just been updated to reflect processing times
until sep 2005, I see huge delays in Visa posts all over the world,
look at new Delhi !

Buffalo is good news : 30% applications fianlized in 18 months 50% application finalized in 24 months,so if our application is aok and the home country in not middle east(this can result in huge delays in BG check) then we can expect
our applications to be funalized in 2 years.

Thanks,
Brian

These times are bit tricky to read. Add them up and they don´t make a full 100%.

So CIC is at best playing with numbers here. What they show are cumulative figures. The "effective" clear times are not 30% + 50%, but 30% and 50%-30% i.e. 20% in next time period.

Now, these figures are again changed with each new case added per time period, which I have seen change.

What CIC should report is no. of cases recieved per period and no. of cases cleared. That will give an indication of per post cases cleared per day!

Of course delays are expected due to various reasons, however that will give applicants an idea of when to expect a final resolution.

final resolution all depends on the specific application. Let´s make it easy. 10 applications come in January 1, 2005.

They are saying...3 will be finished in under 18 months. a full half can expect to be finished in 24 months (so 3+2 more). 7 out of the 10 can be sure they will be complete in 32 months (3+2+2) and the last category listed is 8/10 in 36 months. That leaves 2 out of every 10 applications stuck in some form of approval nightmare.

Where you fit in that statistical analysis is totally dependant on your application. How complex the application, countries that must be verified, need for interview, etc. etc. etc. Even how long you take to supply requested documents.

I would suspect that there are cases clearing every day at every embassy across the world. The only equalizer is the starting date on the file. from then on, it is every application on its own merits and the above statistics can be applied.

that is why comparing timelines makes me crazy. they are irrelevant the minute the AOR is issued.

Sharon:

What about additional cases filed in one time-period?

e.g lets take your example of 10 case in Jan; but what if in next time period 15 cases were filed instead of 10? This will throw off the logic you put forth.

CIC is just has this big show with figures - why can´t they simply state how many cases they recieved and how many cases they finalized each month.

We are educated enough to figure out how long these files are taking - we would be interested to know how much is CIC working to complete files.

Lately, it is easy for CIC to throw all extra cases into the BG check bucket and blame on 3rd party. The question remains, they should have a procedure to conduct and finalize these checks in a time bound period, simply to blame on 3rd party is not done. Why do they charge the +1000 $ on applicantion fees? I had thought this was to fund their process, to include BG Checks.
