Subject: ROPR fee - does that mean I'm in??/
I have been asked to send Rights of Perm residence Fee by the consultant through who I appled for Canada PR (Its an insult to others to call this company a consulting co. because I haven´t seen a more pathetic and greedy outfit than this but more of that some other time..)

Could anyone on the forum advise me:
I am assured that I´m "through" now! Is that correct! I´m told that next step is to apply for a passport or something like a request for passport!

Is that correct!
Isn´t there supposed to be a Visa interview!

My fingerprints never came from FBI! Doesn´t Consulate need that!
Slightly confused here.

Your complete or partial answers will be very helpful and reassuring and Much Apprecaited.
Thanks

Did your consultant tell you that you got the initial assessment. Is the consultant askng for the draft in their name and they would send the ROLF? If thats the case, ur consultant might just keep the funds for one year....

In my opinion, you would not get your passport request without the medicals and finger prints. Did you ever get a letter saying that your interview is waived.

Bottom line - I think your consultant wants to creat a float for himself/herself. Will take your money and hold it for one or two years.....how rotten!

Akshay, the ROPR fee and the ROLF fee are the same thing. In my case I was asked to pay it before the FBI fingerprinting reports came.My interview was waived. So dont worry about that. But paying the fee does not mean you are through. But it is a positive sign. THE CHC does the so called "background check" after the meds. I have done my meds and Iam still waiting for the passport request (PPR). The PPR for some is a very short duration and others is longer.Plus there is this rumour that the quota for landing for 2005 is full, Iam not sure how true this is.

I would advise you to ask your agent to show you the letter that they recieved from the CHC asking you to pay the ROPR fees and the interview waiver letter.Ask for a scanned copy via email for record keeping if possible. I dont have an agent but recieved letters directly from the CHC regarding interview waiver,ROLF fees etc. Plus you should get a reciept for it from the CHC after paying the ROPR fee. The draft/money order that you are making out hopefully is to the CHC and not the agent, right?

You should be fine but its good to be cautious. Good luck!

One quick note...you do get receipt for your application fee but CIC does not send the receipt for ROLF. I sent my ROLF directly to CIC but never got a receipt. I know they got it because it is reflected in my CAIPS.

AKSHAY - Before sending more money out, demand from consultant the letters. You will get the following:

1. Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) - saying that they have received your application and will take X weeks to finalize.

2. Initial Assessment Letter - Whether your interview has been waived or not. If waived, then they will send you Medical forms and ask you to get FBI prints (if you ever lived in US). If you get an interview, I am not sure what the process is.

They will at this time also say that you can go ahead and pay your Right of Landing Fee (ROLF).

Hope it helps.

another follow up question to the Wise Men & Women (in reply to: ROPR fee - does that mean I'm in??/)
Do I understand correctly that If they ask for Medical and Fingerprinting then this means that Interview has been waived!

Regarding the ROLF reciept, it was mailed to me (in the US) from CHC New Delhi. Iam not sure how it works for other visa posts.

I never got any receipt from CIC Buffalo for my ROLF..so I think it is an arbitrary process.
