Subject: PR and Landing quesstion: please advice...
Hello, I have a question concerning landing. I finally got my immigration visa stamp from Buffalo, (yeah...finally!). Now, I am just two weeks from my meds expiring, and they only gave me till two weeks to land. I can do this, no problems, but there are a few things I have to clean up in the States before I can finally move to Canada, maybe early next year. Can I just land next week in Canada, then give immigration officer a canadian address to mail my PR card to, then leave Canada to take care of all I have to take care of? When PR card is mailed to Canadian address, a friend will send to me outside Canada, then I can use it to move finally to Canada. Anyone tried this before? Actually, I had almost given up hope that this PR thing will go through, until I got PP request last week from Buffalo (I used next day USPS Express return, so it got back to me in five days!). Please advice...

NB: I applied back in May 04, did meds in Nov. 04, PP request last week, visa stamp today!

First off congratz. Good news

As long as you leave a canadian address it will be fine.

Happy landing.

You will probably want and need to make a list of all the things you will bring to Canada after your first landing for Customs reasons. For example, if you have all your household furniture and what not that you will bring to Canada at a later date, Customs needs to know this or else you might be paying extra taxes/duties if you don´t.

Please double check this with Canada Immigration to make sure.

Congratulations!!

I think you can use your friend´s address for your PR card and he can later mail it to you in US.

Also, this is really great news for most of the applicants who have their medicals done and waiting for the PPR for months...

I don´t understand if the backlog cases (in other forums) is an issue.

Please contribute your views.

Thanks, actually i had almost given up! You can see that i haven´t posted anything on this site like i used to! So, to everyone who´s been waiting, i´d say, just relax, and do something else creative, and forget about this canadian immigration stuff, it will someday appear in your mailbox! worrying will not solve anything. I even applied for canadian visitor visa last month, and got it, and went to vancouver for vacation, and came back to States! Then, just as i came back, i went to my mailbox, and there was PPR waiting for me! If i had known, i wouldn´t have wasted $$$ applying for visitor visa, but the vacation trip was awesome! Anyway, goodluck to everyone!
