| Subject: Passport request while visitng Canada |

Hello all,
I am sponsoring my husband from the US and he has just received his request to send his passports. We weren?t expecting the PR to process so quickly and he is currently visiting me here in Canada for a couple of months.
Can he send the passport to Buffalo from my address in Canada and have it sent back to him here?
He still has to return to the US to collect his things and at that point, as I understand it he can officially ?land.?

Unfortunately, you are not allowed by law to send PP through mail or courier "ACROSS" a country.
Even if you could, CIC is not going to mail you the PP back from Buffalo to a Canadian Address. Also, he is legally required to make a landing with visa at a Canadian post.
I know it sounds crazy, but these are the rules. Call up Buffalo to explain the situation - maybe they will extend the date to submit the PP.
Other alternative if for your Husband to personally go to Buffalo and return, which will also validate his landing.

Why then in the letter would it state that they will send it to a US or canadian address?

Just to update in case someone else is in a similar situation, I was able to contact the buffalo consulate through email and they said that yes, it is fine to send the passport from canada.
