Hi there;
I found a very strange message in my Eclient today.
" Interview is scheduled for -- Jan 2006"
I applied in SW class and got my IA in Aug 2004 and my interview was waived, but suddenly now they are asking for interview!
I got caips note in July. I got 77 points, and everything was pending for BG check.
Does anyone else experienced the same problem?
I appreciate answers from experts.

You should apply for CAIPS notes once again; maybe you will come to know the issue. Most probably they have not been able to verify some of the information that you have provided on your application forms.
Where have you submitted you application? Does your Eclient say where you will be interviewed?

I submitted my application to Buffalo, and no it does not mention where the interview is scheduled.

My interview was waived. However, they mentioed in the letter that though your interview was waived at this time, we might call you for an interview if any needs in future.

most probably it´s a security related interview, usually done by an officer from intelligant agency.

sounds like a security interview to me. Apply CAIPS asap and find out the reason. BTW, What´s ur nationality?

I agree with the advise given. Apply for CAIPS. Most likely its a security decision. Your nationality might have a role to play in it.

I received later today a letter from buffalo as well. The place of interview is the canadian consulate general in Buffalo.
I didnt know that they do interview in Buffalo. Anyway I dont remember if I mentioned buffalo in my choices for the place of interview, and for sure it wasnt my first choice.
Could you please let me know what is the security interview?
What kind of documents should I take with me?, and what kind of questions I might expect?
I am Iranian, and this might be the problem!!!

I also thought that they don´t do interviews in Buffalo.
Anyway....I saw this brief explanation of security interview:
What is a security interview?
In a small percentage of applications, an interview is held to evaluate security issues such as espionage, subversion or terrorism. These interviews are usually held after a selection interview, and may also be held in cases where a selection interview is waived.

I have faced the same problem. Here are my time lines:
Applied: Dec. 2003
Received File #: Jan. 2004
Medical: August 2004 (It was stating that my case has been finalized without interview)
Contacted Buffalo through MP: May 2005
2 days latter (May 2005) Buffalo send me a fax stating that all requirements have been met for my file and the only thing left is Background checking (BG). They said that the BG most likely takes more few months and if they can not finalize it before my mediacl expires (sep. 2005) then they would ask my medical officer to extend it for me so that I do not need to take the medical again!
Yesterday (13 months after my medical) I received a letter from Buffalo that i was asked to present in Buffalo for Interview!! although they have said that I do not need to have interview. The interview date has been set for March 2006!!!!!!!! Again 5-6 months waiting.
Also, i am Iranian.
