Subject: delayed spouse approval at mississauga
Can anybody offer advice? Here is my timeline. I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my wife for permanent residence from South America. I live in the states but I have an excellent, high paying job offer in Canada for december and I sent this offer in with my application to prove my return.
Aug 23-2005- Missisauga received application
Sept 8-2005- Mississauga began processing my application.

Now, Oct.12 and NOTHING!! No change on e-cas, no approval letter NOTHING. What is going on here? I have seen other threads where the sponsor is APPROVED on the same day they open the application! I cant call CIC from the US. Help!! Has anybody experienced approval delays? The application was complete and VERY strong.

Because you are living outside of Canada, they will take a little longer with approval.....I was delayed in getting approval and I was outside and I know 4 others who were in the same boat. Just be patient and all will be OK. This is normal when you are living outside of Canada.

Thanks for the reply. By delay, could you tell me how long you were delayed? They list the average as 32 days. Its extremely frustrating knowing that they have not even sent the application to the foreign visa office yet.

I went 10 days over the scheduled time.....not much of a delay.

Maybe call your MP and see what they can do.

Thank you. I will give them a couple days then call my MP to look into it. Its particularly annoying when I see similar cases being "opened and approved" on the same day, even for people not living in Canada. I mean, I have a house and a job in Canada and returning in 6 weeks. What the hell more proof do they need? So frustrating.....

Yes it is very frustrating......I was so angry to see same day approvals.....BUT I waited a few days then called my MP and it was all settled within a few days of calling.

Even with my delay for sponsorship, the whole process took 4 1/2 months from the day the file was received in Mississauga to the day my wife had her visa.

same here! (in reply to: delayed spouse approval at mississauga)
Hi John
We are in exactly the same boat.

We sent out spousal application off at the beginning of august and we hadn´t heard anything. As we were getting worried if it had even arrived there I sent an email to the London CHC, as we are currently in the UK and unable to contact toll free number from here. They replied to my email today saying our application has been received at Mississauga and it is ´pending´.

They didnt say anything else, which is really frustrating!

Keep us posted on how your doing, and we´ll do the same.

Fingers crossed it all comes through positive and quickly!

Jackson

Hi Jackson,
The only new information I saw was that the "average" processing time at CPC mississauga for applications received before Sept 15 is now increased from 32 days to 37 days, which suggests their whole system is backlogged. Still makes me wonder how the hell these people get theirs approved on the same day it is opened at mississauga. I think it all depends on the officer doing your file and their level of professionalism and committment. I am going to contact my MP and get some answers.

Hi John

I checked the processing times tonight too, and I wonder how some people are processed so quickly, luck of the draw or something.

Good luck with the MP, I think we will be contacting ours if we dont hear something soon. My spouse is here in the UK on a working holiday makers visa which expires really soon...which is adding to our stresses.

Thanks Immigration Guy, trying to keep positive, its just hard sometimes.
