this is what I received from Buffalo when I asked something about some papers

Your file is in queue for initial assessment which could take up to 49 weeks from application date.

app: march 05
AOR: april 05

That´s bullshit! How could it take up to 4 years just to get IA. Whoever sent you that must´ve had a hangover or had a bad day.
You applied in March and got AOR a month later?? Something wrong with this picture. I question your accuracy.

catocan:

How did you estimate 49 WEEKS as 4 years?

Catocan,

It says 49 weeks not 49 months! I remember that in my AOR it said they´re processing apps. received 36 weeks ago. So, they seem to be behind at most 13 weeks (at least this is what they claim).

Mircea,

Could you clarify this. Does it say 49 weeks from "application date" or "AOR date"?

Oops, sorry, my mistake. Yes, it´s true, a year is what they gave me as a maximum wait. If there are no complications (no interviews, tests, etc.) it could take around 8 months, at least that´s what my lawyer said. However, at this point, since Buffalo has come to a screeching halt, it´ll be longer, who´s to say.

nobody has HALTED anything! your lawyer based his information on last years volumes... the same as we all do when we read the CIC website. Obviously, the volume has changed. therefore... last years projected times are of zero value to current applications.

That´s not my lawyer´s info, sharon, it´s mine. It just seems like no IA´s have been given out for the last 3 or so months. On another note, if you look at http://www.yogi799.com/timeline/buffalo/indexsorted.asp?sortby=aor%20desc you´ll see that last year´s processing during the summer was equally slow, maybe a little better. So that gives me hope.

Catocan: With regard to your response "You applied in March and got AOR a month later?? Something wrong with this picture. I question your accuracy." There is nothing wrong with it mircea´s statement. Infact, there are some people (who applied in July-Aug 05) getting AORs in less than a month. The AOR issues were rather weird starting in November. It took almost 4 months but in Feb 05 they began speeding it up.

Hi
I applied on march 30th and got the AOR on April 11th.

The AOR didn´t give me any timeframe (36, 49, 60 weeks), but when I sent an email to ask if they have received some documents sent on August 20th, they said 49 from the application date, so the date they received the application, I assume.

my detailed timeline is:

-app March 30th, 2005
-AOR April 11th, 2005
-paid ROLF May 16th, 2005 (I know I don´t have to pay it until I receive the IA but I wanted to have it done)
-sent Police Clearance Certificate on July 19th, 2005
-sent fingerprint form to Ottawa on July 19th, 2005
(for the two previous items, I did it just to make sure that in case they would have asked for them, they are done. In case they won´t do it, I lost $50, in case they would do it I gained 3-4 months, the current time for fingerprints)
-sent update on my marital status on August 20th, 2005 (I got married to my fiancee, Canadian Citizen)

you still don´t get it. Yogi is posting OLD NEWS. Buffalo is saying they are CURRENTLY processing at 49 weeks. In one months time, someones elses letter might say 42... or 55 weeks! It depends on what the volume is. Nobody is lying or being lazy or being punitive towards you.

If we have learned anything at all, it is not to count time in an exact way and not to rely on history as a guarantee for the future.

49 weeks is fast, compared to other offices
