Hi,
Could any one solve my this little confusion?
I´m on student visa and will be joining my community college in Toronto for a Diploma in Jan 2006. My husband also accompanying me. Is he allowed to work [Means as we enter to country he would do the procedure for the work permit and start working]or he needs part time admission in some college.

your sponsor is allowed to work, however, need pass HRDC first and apply work permit later

my spouse is Mechanical Engineer,
"Passing HRDC" means an job offer or he is free to work in any field or any job

if he is fresh canadian graduate, he does not need to pass HRDC

Hi there,
As far as I know, he won´t be able to work unless he has a work permit. He has to pass HDRC but still he got to get a job in that field, say if he is a Mech. Eng. he has to get a job in that field. After he gets the appointment letter, he has to add this letter with the HDRC approval letter and send it for a work permit visa. Only after he gets visa he is ready to work.
Departure Bay: Why are you talking nonsense man, how can somebody work without a valid permit? You are telling he can start working before the getting work permit

thanks for the detail reply
i have gone through the website i have found somthing which is I´m exact copying here
"Spouse or common-Law partners of the Certain Foreign students are allowed to accept employment in the general labour market without the need for HRDC Confirmantion.
This is intended for spouses who are not, themselves, full-time students."
Even in this case he needs to search job in his field? can´t he do any availble related or unrelated job.

Mona...Don´t wory once your husband is in canada and you on student visa he can obtain Work authrizatio by applying it to alberta.thee is no need to obtain HRDc approval. He can work openly once he recieved authrization. Need help contact me on lizardking_toronto@yahoo.com
