Subject: The oracle (CIC) speaks (continued)
  Since the last post reached ten messages, this is a continuation. Here is my original post and response to some of the questions from the last thread:

Following the lead of others who have e-mailed Buffalo, (buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca) I sent an updated email address and also took the opportunity to politely ask about the status of my file. Within one day they replied that they had forwarded the email to the appropriate place and on the third day they informed me, "Your file will be ready for final review by an Officer early 2006."

Since my e-CAS had changed to "medicals have been received" on August 29, 2005, I was hoping for a PPR soon. However, I suppose it is better to have more solid information as opposed to checking e-CAS every day and not knowing if I will hear in a day or a year.

Here is my time-line in hopes it helps others who are waiting:
App: August 2004;
AOR: October 2004;
IA: May 2005;
Meds/Docs: June 2005;
e-CAS "meds received": August 2005.

Responses: I have not yet ordered CAIPS, but will soon.

My e-CAS reads, "we started processing your file on October 8, 2004."

The text of my email to Buffalo included the same identifiers I enter into e-CAS, and provided my new email address. Then I provided my relevant file dates (AOR, etc.,) and said, "Could you please give me an indication of when I may receive a passport request? I know you are very busy, but please recognize that I have a house to sell and a life to move. Knowledge of the time frame would help me with these tasks."

Hi Tim, i think the best reply you can get from them is something like "it will take several months". So, I would not suggest you to hope for somthing more precise than that. As far as I understand, they are not into making any types of commitments and they try to avoid truly specific answers. I understand how you feel and I think THEY DO understand, but they would not commit to something more than "several months" type of reply.

Be patient

GOODLUCK

I still think that Buffalo has reached it´s quota for the year. People who sent emails to Buffalo before never got response such as "early 2006" until recently.

Sigh................

Quota (in reply to: The oracle (CIC) speaks (continued))
SG1: Unfortunately, the signs seem to be pointing to a quota. It would be nice if CIC would simply post something to that effect instead of leaving so many of us guessing.
