Subject: Postgraduate employment question
  hi there,

I finished my Master´s in Engineering, I am getting an offer as Secretary to the director of Grad studies.

I am afraid if I apply for my Work permit under PG emply. program, I will be rejected as the job is not much related to my Master´s in Engg. Could anybody tell me how to officer categorises or tell me do I have a chance of getting the job?

My job wasn´t directly related to my education either but getting a Post-Grad work permit was relatively easy. All you really need is a letter from yoursellf stating how your education is related to your field of work. In the letter you could include for instance, information like the position favours candidates that possess a masters in english. Read your job description and "tweak" things a little bit. Honestly just use your brain. If your position is within the department of English, even better. Your letter is the main document that will convince them that your work is directly related to your field of study, so make it a good one. Good luck.

Gosh sorry !!! I thought you had a masters in english. It´s engineering isnt it? Anyway, like I said before, if your position is within the department of engineering you stand a good chance because you could say that the position requires candidates with a strong engineering background. Read your job description and "tweak" it a little to convey a strong argument.

or you can say in your letter to Immigration that upon finishing you degree it´s not that easy to find a proper job in engineering without PR. But because your sociable and bright nature you were asked to wokr in your department as secretary, helping people with many problems, those you already came through. And ask somebody (Dean ar Graduate programm director or somebody esle) to give you the reference letter.
My believe (the personal opinion))- it should work and again it shows your adaptability to life in Canada.
