Subject: Should I send Police clearance certificate ?
  Hi,
I have submitted my IELTS score a couple of weeks back...
Should I send my Canada Police clearance certificate now, even though CIC, buffalo haven´t asked for it ? As I would be going back to india in a month or two ?

Or should I wait to hear from CIC, Buffalo?

Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul.

You could probably get away with sending it in advance if you included a change of address and an explanation, but the risk would be an unwanted file transfer to New Delhi (or some-such mix-up). :-(

Instead of potentially making things difficult, why don´t you request the certificate on one of your last days here, and ask that the RCMP reply with there results to a friend´s home address. Then, when CIC asks for it, you can have a friend send it in on your behalf.

Conversely, collect everything you need whilst here to make the request from India, and then send it to the RCMP after CIC makes its request. Better yet, leave the compiled documents (i.e. fingerprint card; CIC letter; etc) with a friend (in a sealed envelope, with postage attached), and ask that (s)he drop it in the mail upon your future request.

Good luck.

But (in reply to: Should I send Police clearance certificate ?)
Thansk Dennis :)
Shouldn´t I ask the RCMP to directly send the police clearance certificate directly to CIC,Buffalo even though CIC haven´t asked for it ..

would it be advisable to send it now or should I send it only after CIC asks me to send "Police clearance certificate" from Canada ?

It IS best if you wait until CIC makes their requests, but I implied that you would have significant difficulty complying with their request once you return to India. Consequently, I provided three possible suggestions, which, b/c I don´t know anything about you or your case, I´m forced to leave with you to make the best-fitting decision.

BTW - Have you lived in Canada for at least 6 months, within the last ten years (or since turning 18 years old)? The reason I am asking is because I´m not sure if you are in the US or Canada. More importantly, if you have not lived here (i.e., Canada), then you´re worrying about something you needn´t bother with.

Dennis

P.S. The background and security stage of your application´s processing occurs after your medicals are successfully completed; consequently, if you have not done your medicals, then you are probably well-advised to wait on your police certificates until after doing so.

P.P.S. RCMP police certificates should be sent directly to Buffalo, but I´ve seen plenty of cases where they were sent to the applicant first, who then forwarded them on to CIC. Consequently, I don´t think there´s any written policy on the matter.

Anyone else?
