I hope the info. below might be very helpful for you .(Source:http://immigrationguides.com/forums/func,showcat/catid,5/) Under "Settlement funds"

You can bring funds into Canada in the form of:

1. cash;
2. securities in bearer form (for example: stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills);
or 3. negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example: bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques, money orders.)

Apart from this, you should note that if you are carrying more than CDN $10,000 (in any form), you must tell a Canadian official when you arrive in Canada.

Funds may also be transferred into Canada at a later date, but the exact amounts must be intimated to immigration officials when you make your entry. Centralized bank records mean immigration officials will be automatically intimated when the fund transfer takes place.
