Subject: updating CAIPS notes
Even though the AOR letter from Buffalo said a decision would be taken within 52 weeks, it is now two and a half years and counting...
A year and a half ago we sent in updated information [new passport numbers, appointment letters, etc.] but when we got the CAIPS notes a couple of months ago, no mention of the new information had been made in them. The details given are exactly as per the original application. Does sending in additional information make any difference?

CAIPS notes should have mentioned the new details somewhere. How did you send the new information?

Send another letter with new information, this time by a courier to track so they have your updated information.

On a cover letter mention that you did not see the updated information on the CAIPS.

Buffalo IA should not take that long considering the time frame of your application. At least that is the case for most Buffalo applicants on this forum. Send an urgent fax and ask for the status and reason for delay. Probably there is something missing in the application or a processing error on the part of cic. CAIPS will not help because your file has not been processed. Why did you wait for so long?

updating CAIPS notes / application time line (in reply to: updating CAIPS notes)
here´s the time line :

applied : Jan 2003

AOR : Feb 2003 (saying ´decision in 52 weeks´)

Jan 2004 : Buffalo requested updated information on my son which was promptly sent, and we included more information abt other changes too.

April 2004 : Buffalo requested updated information on my husband - sent that too.

August 2004 : our agent put in a status check request. There was no reply from Buffalo - the agent told they don´t always do, but to rest assured that our file was ´active´.

December 2004 : We asked for the CAIPS notes.

January 2005 : Recd the CAIPS notes [nothing untoward in it, but the notes contained none of the major changes in information. The agents explained that as normal, so ´don´t worry´... but I am worrying, which is why I took the opportunity of expressing it on this forum]

February 2005 : Another status check request was sent to Buffalo. This time there was a prompt reply - handwritten on the letter and faxed back - that they were waiting for Background Information.

May 2005 : Recd letter from Buffalo saying that the file has been transferred to LA for the interview.

So I guess that the file is active and moving, but has probably joined the end of another long queue in LA. The forms for the medicals will only be released to us by the agents when the interview date is given, to give its validity as long a run as possible.

The E-Client Status continues to show ´In Process´

Waiting for LA now... no idea at all, how long that will be. Tired of all this waiting and guessing, but I´m glad I hit upon this forum - it helps to hear other stories!
