Subject: Visitor visa info
I got a job interview in Canada. Now I suppose I need a temporary visa as I am a student in the US, not a PR. I was wondering how long this process does take . Have any of you got a visa recently? Please share the info.

I also need to know if one visa office is better than the other in terms of time line. I just do not want to undergo the same waiting process that I have been for Canadian PR.

The potential employer is paying for my travel related expenses. (NOT Visa fee though). Do I still need to show financial guarantee? And whts up with that medical, are they serious? Do they make every visitor to undergo rigorous medical check up every time you want to visit Canada?

I would highly appreciate any input. Thanks.

Hi Sharon,
Congratulations for visa.
I would appreciate if you could give some insight about the visitor visa. I just wanted to make sure I catch you before you go on a long hibernation from this cybernation after sept 12.;-)
Thanks in advance.

I doubt that I will disappear. Not sure if I am the person to ask on this subject. We had to prove and prove and prove that my guy was going home at the end of his vist.

i underwent the same process in june 2003 - so please take my answers with a rather large bag of salt.

>>>I was wondering how long this process does take

detroit processed mine in exactly 7 days - end to end

as far as documentation is concerned, you just need to fill out an application form, attach copies of your I-20/SEVIS, your passport (of course) and a letter from the company thats going to interview you (my letter was faxed - thats supposedly as good as an original)

there is no need to attach any financial documents (since the company is paying for your trip) nor is any kind of medical documentation required.
you are generally issued a single-entry visa thats valid for 6 months.

good luck with that interview.

regards,
q.
