Subject: Land and then leave
If I land and then go back to my country and continue work - how long can I do this for before I loose my rights in Canada? Are there any exceptions or loopholes that allow me to remain outside the country for an extended length of time?

the rules are clear. To maintain your PR you need to spend 2 y in canada in every 5 years. That is theoritically 3 years before you lose the PR status. However, the port officer has the right to deny your entry even within this period if he feels that you spent too much out of canada.

The only too conditions that allow you to be out of the country fro prolonged time are either to join a canadian citizen (as a spouse) out of canada, or work for a canadian co overseas.

Loopholes are there as any system in the world, however, you will not find them on this site. Consult a loophole professional!!!!

yeah dude,
we only try to recommend positive suggestions here. People like you who are looking for loopholes must not be allowed to enter the country.

Not to single you out, but I´m about to lose it over these folks who don´t really want to be in Canada, but for some mysterious reason want the priviledge of having PR. Man, and I really don´t want to be mean, but why do you want Canadian PR if you don´t want to live there, if you´re more concerned with finding loopholes which allow to stay where you already are? I tell you, if or when the day comes that I am blessed with my visa, I´m selling my house immediately, packing up my material life, and high tailing it to the nearest port of entry as soon as possible...and STAYING there on the northern side of the border. That´s why I´m applying, and why 99.9% of the good people here on this board are applying: to LIVE AND WORK in Canada. And we all wait, with varying degrees of patience, literally for years, while the system is bogged down with people who don´t really, in their hearts, want to call Canada HOME. And so yes, this is frustrating, and I´m in no way judging you or your motives, but just getting a bit of frustation off my chest. Best of luck to you in your decision.

wanabecanadian you are the champ. I dont know why people wait this much long, spend money, get PR and try to find ways to live some where else. No idea.
