Once you get to Canada the gender roles blur. Economic dictates that both the man and the woman and even the children have to work, especially if you want to get ahead.

If you do not have a valid work permit you are not allowed to work in Canada, therefore, immigration cannot evaluate you negatively for not working, when you are following the laws of your new home to be.

Once your application has been accepted in Canada for processing you should apply for a work permit. Once you have the permit you have a legal right to work in Canada and you can start hunting. My husband?s application was approved within Canada, we applied for work permits while is application was being processed. He got a good job with before he got his PR status and has remained at the same company after he got his PR status.

His application took just as over 2 years, it was important for him to work to contribute to the household, not for immigration.

Don´t worry so much about immigration, I find that if you try live your life the way you would once you are approved everything tends to work ok fine.

Thank you for the reply, but its a outside sponsoring application, i dont reside in Canada with her as yet. I live in the Caribbean and i currently cant find a job as where i live unemployment is fairly hig, but is putting STUDENT in the OCCUPATION box for me going to affect application?? Reason is, i am married and i expected to work even if wife is not here, so would CIC think anything? Meanwhile i am doing some Non university courses, so for time STUDENT seems only option to put.
