Subject: Kids, how do I do this ? |

I´m from Canada and currently adjusting my status on a family basis. (I married a US citizen).
I have two kids from a previous girlfriend in Canada. They are teenagers now and I just found out when they came to visit me that they are living in a less than Ideal situation with their mother. (Mothers boyfriend is abusive, mother is now out of work, things have gone downhill quickly). I´d like to keep them here with me in the US. Their mother will not object and will sign any forms needed. I did declare that I had two kids on my I-485 but I stated that they were not going to be immigrating with me because that was not the plan. Now things have changed a little and if possible I´d like them to live with me at least for the near future.
My question is how would I accomplish this ? My current adjustment is almost complete, I´ve had the interview, done the fingerprints and medical etc. I´m waiting on final approval now. Do I wait until it is complete or do I file another form ?
They are here in the US with me now and scheduled to return to Canada in 3 weeks. I have the issue of schooling if they stay. That aside, which forms do I file ?
Please help.
My deepest thanks.

(in reply to: Kids, how do I do this ?) I would check with an immigration lawyer. I am sure this situation has happened before.
