how´s this for an immigration story...

she came as a child. Established a career in journalism. Fluent in 5 languages, married to a French (cacasian) immigrant, has a young daughter... and has been chosen to preside over all matters of goverment business as a ceremonial representative of the English crown. (yes, we still sing God Save the Queen - just like Austrailia)

if you ask her parents... dream of a better life can come true.

Technically all the legislation has to be signed by governor general before it will be called ??act?? or official law.

Without governor general, government cannot be function.

However, anyway, I am not a Canadian, I am not sure if it??s political correctness to make this comment.

I think this position was appointed rather than democracy elected, I don??t really care who will be a governor general. Furthermore, I don??t really care if this is crown connection or not, since new Canadian, not everybody??s ancestors are from Britain. For foreign people, it might be hard to understand what is "governor general".

Anyway, we can have this kind of civil debate for whole day, give this to those bureaucracy people to do that.

DP... it is not an elected appointment. However, the position is significant. The most significant part is who is selected by the government of the day to fill that role. The selection of Michaelle Jean has been hailed as brilliant because she represents so many aspects of the Canadian identity. She is an important head of state and then ask yourself what other country would select such a ´resume´ for one of the highest political positions in the country. Young, female, immigrant, mixed marriage, journalist, mother,...

Great choice. I just hope she limits her budget regardless of what she is allowed to spend. Let us not forget she is a representative of the Queen, and hardly the Queen herself.

you know what? If you need do a lot of visit to foreign counties, you have to spend!

Just take back those money from Sponsorship scandal,
those are way more than what governor general spent
