Subject: Proof of funds question
Greetings All!

How many times during the immigration process do I need to provide proof of funds?

And does the CIC ask for more than the the current months proof, i.e. 3 months worth of bank statements?

Thanks.

I think it´s ideal to provide CIC with at least 3 months of bank statements, etc., although to be really thorough you might consider 6 month´s worth. I sent 3 months of statements plus a letter from each bank with my 6 month averages in each account (maybe that´s overkill, but it should help eliminate questions). From what I understand through this forum, you can be asked to prove your funds at any point; some people have been asked at least 3 times throughout the process. I don´t know if that is customary or just random, but you do want to be prepared. Some people have borrowed money as "proof" for their initial application, but I guess you run the risk of being asked again. Good luck!

Take my advice: just keep a load of loot in the designated bank account and save all the monthly statements you receive. When CIC asks for proof, send photocopies of all statements (for however many months you got), they should immediately shut up as far as money is concerned.

Just for contrast, I only provided proof once. I had a fair amount more than required, and they have never asked again (I am waiting for PPR now). So, no telling.
